Jodie, Noooooooo!!!!
I am a die hard Kentucky fan. Even when they are having a rough season, I still support them in everything they do. I am, of course, from Kentucky. It's home for me. so the last few weeks have been very good. We fired coach Gillespie, and hired Coach Calipari. Things are looking good for next season. And I just was reading the other day that the big two players, Jodie Meeks, and Patrick Patterson, were excited about the possibilities of the upcoming season with the new coach. All this, and the fact that a couple of recruits from Memphis may follow coach Calipari to Kentucky, made things very exciting, and the outlook for next year was great!.....until today...
Junior Guard, and star player of the team, Jodie Meeks declared himself for the NBA Draft. That is judt GREAT! The team showed this year that they can't play without him. If he's having a bad day, the team has a bad day. So to not have him on the team AT ALL, we're doomed! Well, maybe doomed... I don't want to say one player determines our season, because one monkey don't stop no show. But this season, if jodie had a bad game, THE TEAM had a bad game!
With that being said, Meeks did not hire an agent, so all is not lost just yet. For those who don't know, as long as a player doesn't hire an agent, they have the option to come back to play the next season in school. So Jodie is basically just testing the draft waters to see where he would go. I mean, this is kind of smart, but as I fan, I really don't want the guy to leave just yet. The team needs him. And as of right now, he's a projected 2nd round pick. If he holds out another year, he could probably get that higher, and go as at least a lottery pick. I think he realizes that as well, which is why he didn't hire an agent. Hopefully, he goes out there, gives it his all, and puts on a good show for those NBA scouts to help his stock, but realizes he could use one more year in school. That's what I want to happen. If he decides to go, then I wish him luck, and hopefully he gets drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats! ( a guy can dream right? He'd go from my favorite college team to my favorite pro team!) I guess we'll just have to wait it out and see in the upcoming weeks.
Seeing how hes only projected in the second round and didnt hire a agent, good chance he will come back. Unless he just tears up the pre-draft camps. Don't see that happening. He will do better to come back and play a year under Calipari, and take his game to the next level.
