A Look Back at 2018!
2018......... Whew..... Where do I begin?
Let's get the bad out the way first.
2018 has been the worst year of my work career, which says a lot because in the past 12 years, I've had two other times where I thought, "It doesn't get any worse than this!".... I was wrong.... It does..... It's been like a long running bad joke with no punchline.... Like no ending!! Just trash!!! Throw the whole work year away!!
👆🏿Has led to some Mental health issues. At some points of the year, I didn't know if I'd even have a career to end the year! Each time I thought things were improving, I'd get kicked in the dick and brought back to the reality of suck again. 🤷🏿♂️ The song I wrote called, " I'm Fine," was real! And about me!
Family:
We lost one to start the year with the passing of my step-mother. Terrible way to begin the year. My father is Superman in my eyes, and it was tough, yet understandable, to see Superman in a weakened state. I just want to be there for him if needed as he grieves.
A little over halfway through the year, we gained a member with the birth of my niece, Oakleigh. Such a beautiful and happy little baby and I'm glad that I was able to fly back and meet her. 2 months later, we welcomed (officially) her mother into the family, as she married my big brother. So now, I have a new big sister! Margaret is great, even if she is a Tennessee fan!
And in an interesting twist to end the year, I found out I have a new, older cousin! Kind of a Christmas miracle for my Uncle, and the rest of the members in my family on my mother's side.
On August 3rd, I released arguably my greatest body of work musically, entitled, "A Work of Art," to a worldwide release. I'm proud of how it came out, and the responses that I've received regarding it. I worked hard on that album, and it felt really good to put it out there for the world to hear. The time spent in the studio, the money spent for the beats, for the studio time, the writing, the struggle for ideas, all worth it, and I look forward to doing it again in 2019, but even better!
My YouTube channel, BigRafTV continued to grow and do well. I'm learning more and more about the camera and how to edit the videos. It's not so much about what I'm discussing for me, but about how what I'm discussing is presented to you, the viewers. That's the thrill of it all for me in the creative process. Anybody can do product reviews on YouTube, and a lot of people do. But my goal is to really continue to improve with the video editing and the production side of things. The channel for me is doing well. I gained over 600 subscribers this year, so thanks to everyone for watching!
........... unfinished....
