Good Times At Fort Knox High

What's goin on everyone? Hope you all are doing well out there tonight, and thank you for tuning in to my blog. This morning as I got up to prepare for work, a few thoughts crossed my mind. The first was, I really don't feel like going to work today. The second of which was good times from high school. That second thought led me down a path of reminiscing of the good ol days.
I'm a military brat, as we're called, so typically, when you grow up as a military child, you don't often repeat bases, or keep too many of the same friends, or even stay within the same school system. That wasn't the case, to a degree, for me. I completed seven out of my twelve years of school in Fort Knox, Kentucky. I started out at Van Voorhis Elementary school for 1-3 grade, then after a brief run at Bluegrass Elementary in Radcliff, I moved on to Scott Middle School for 7-8 grades finishing up my Fort Knox run at Fort Knox High for 9-10 grades. Unfortunately, I didn't get to graduate from there as I wished, but the memories there could last a lifetime.
This morning in particular, I thought of times in which I used to write and share a notebook with a few of my female friends. We'd write each other a few times a day in this notebook and pass it off in between classes. It was genius, because it was a composition notebook, and teachers couldn't get mad at you for having it and try to take it and embarrass you for passing notes or reading notes in class. We'd talk about anything from, who we liked at the time, how are relationships were going, teachers we didn't like, dreams and goals, everything. I used to look forward to that notebook when I didn't have it, and be excited to read the responses.
Another thing about my time at Fort Knox High that was a huge part of my day to day life during that time (besides girls), was the Cream Team. If you knew me back then, then you probably rarely saw me minus 3-4 other individuals. Everyone loved the Cream Team. There was Big Mike "The Fahja", Jason "The Sensation," Andrew "The Ace," "Big" Zac, and me, "The Botnic." Sure, those nicknames were horrible, but those are the types of things you do at that age. We filmed movies (The Dream, the Scream, The Cream comes to mind as a title), we threw parties, we.... well some of us, not including me, spray painted the Senior Rock with the Cream Team and Creamfather logo. It was a very good time back then, and those friends, at least a few of them, have remained very close friends of mine, even 13 years later.
Anyway folks, I won't continue on too deep down this path of high school memories. I just wanted to take the time and reflect a bit with you all about my time at Fort Knox High. Anybody else out there got any good high school memories to share? Feel free to drop a comment and let me know your thoughts. As always folks, thanks for reading, hit that like and follow button, and I'll talk with you all next time. Peace.

  1. Fort Knox was a special place, man. When I moved there the middle of my junior year, I was so upset to be leaving Texas. Turns out it was the best thing that could have happened to me. The school, the classmates, the teachers....it was all just a wonderful experience.

    1. Couldn't agree more man. I'm so disappointed that I didn't get to graduate from there. My last two years of high school weren't very memorable at all.

  2. I didn't have a nickname but I was part of the team dammit! I keep up with all of yall for the most part. Even my parents ask about yall. Parties in the cabins - late nights at Andrews - that tiny car of Mike's. <3 Cory
